Dr. Avraam (Avi) Fried - Chairman

Avi serves as Rocketick’s Chairman. He is primarily involved in board activities, serving as a member of the board at Green Power Technologies Ltd. and OzVision Inc. Avi is an active investor through his fully owned company, Freedom Holdings and Investments Ltd., as well as through his joint investment company, Ad-Tec Holdings and Investments Ltd. Prior to his current activities, Avi held active roles with hi-tech companies for over 20 years. His previous positions include CEO of mSAFE Inc., General Manager of Avanti Corp in Europe, Area Director of Quickturn Inc., CSO of HP Israel, Country Manager of Cadence Design Automation, and Head of the Computer Department in the Ordnance Corps of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Avi earned his B.Sc., M.Sc. (with Honors) and Ph.D., all from Tel Aviv University.

Uri Tal - CEO, Rocketick Inc.

Uri brings to Rocketick 17 years of experience in management, design, and implementation of hardware acceleration technologies. Prior to Rocketick Uri was a system architect at Siliquent/Broadcom. He previously managed a large R&D team, which developed FPGA-based acceleration solutions for the intelligence corps of the Israeli Defense Forces. Uri holds a B.Sc. (Summa Cum Laude) and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion – the Israeli Institute of Technology.

Tomer Ben-David - CEO and VP R&D, Rocketick Technologies Ltd.

Tomer brings over 17 years of experience in management and engineering of software for a variety of technologies. He previously worked at Intel Corporation, where he managed several software groups. Prior to Intel, he worked for Siliquent and Mellanox in various engineering and management positions. Tomer holds a B.Sc. (Cum Laude) in Computer Engineering from the Technion – the Israeli Institute of Technology, and Executive MBA from Recanati School of Business, Tel-Aviv University.

Shay Mizrachi - CTO

Shay brings to Rocketick over 17 years of experience in system architecture, performance optimization, and hardware acceleration. He was a communication-algorithms scientist at DSPC/Intel, and Principal Scientist and Chief Architect at Siliquent/Broadcom. Mr. Mizrachi has more than 20 issued and pending patents. Shay holds a B.Sc. (Summa Cum Laude) and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion – the Israeli Institute of Technology.

Advisory Board
James Hogan - Advisory Board Member

Mr. Jim Hogan has worked in the semiconductor design and manufacturing industry for more than 30 years gaining experience as a senior executive in electronic design automation, semiconductor intellectual property, semiconductor equipment, and fabrication companies.


Mr. Hogan was a general partner at Telos Venture Partners and Senior Vice President of Business Development at Artisan Components Inc., now part of ARM Holdings PLC. He held senior engineering, marketing and operational management positions at Cadence Design Systems, Inc., National Semiconductor Corporation and Phillips Semiconductor. At Cadence, he was an Executive Fellow, President of Cadence Japan, Corporate Vice President of Marketing, and Corporate Vice President for Field Operations. At National Semiconductor and Philips, he established device physics laboratories globally. He was also Chief Operating Officer of Smart Machines, Inc., a semiconductor equipment automation company.

Mr. Hogan holds a B.A degree in mathematics, a B.S. degree in computer science and an M.B.A all from San Jose State University. He serves on the Board of Advisors at San Jose State’s School of Engineering, and on the board of directors of CLK Design Automation, CiraNova, Shocking Technologies, Solido Design Automation and Xpedion Design Systems.

Ilan Rosen - Advisory Board Member

Ilan Rosen brings to Rocketick over 22 years of experience in private equity investments. Ilan serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors at VocalTec Communications since November 2005. He serves as board member at Ozarot Ltd., an asset management company since 2008, and as Advisor to HarbourVest Partners LLC since March 2003. From 1996 through 2004, Mr. Rosen served as Vice President of Teledata Networks. In that capacity, he cofounded various companies, and served on their board of directors. Ilan received a B.Sc. (Cum Laude) in mechanical engineering from Tel Aviv University in 1979, and an MBA from Tel Aviv University in 1986.

Dr. Tal Simchony - Advisory Board Member

Tal Simchony brings to Rocketick fifteen years of business experience at C-level positions in leading high-tech companies. Dr. Simchony has served as President of DSP Group, and COO of ECI Telecom and Metalink Transmission Devices. He has also served as board member of ECI Telecom, ECtel, and Metalink, as well as additional startup companies in the telecommunications and semiconductor industries. Dr. Simchony founded Veraz Networks through a merger between ECI NGTS Ltd. and Nexverse in San Jose, California, and led the global organization as CEO. In addition to his vast experience in the telecommunications and semiconductor industries, he was also a member of the founding management team of Spine21, a medical device company which developed a Bionic Spacer for the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis. He now serves there as a board member. Tal holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and undergraduate and master degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science (Magna Cum Laude) from Tel Aviv University in Israel. Tal is a recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship.

Prof. Yitzhak (Tsahi) Birk - Advisory Board Member

Prof. Birk has been on the faculty of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Technion – the Israeli Institute of Technology since October 1991, and heads its Parallel Systems Laboratory (PSL). He received B.Sc. (Cum Laude) and M.Sc. degrees from the Technion in 1975 and 1982, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree from Stanford University in 1987, all in electrical engineering. From 1976 to 1981, he was project engineer in the Israel Defense Forces. From 1986 to 1991, he was a Research Staff Member at IBM's Almaden Research Center, where he worked on parallel architectures, computer subsystems, and passive fiber-optic interconnection networks. From 1993 to 1997, he also served as a consultant to HP Labs in the areas of storage systems and video servers, and was later involved with several companies.
