Navigate to the local Craigslist page for your area. Choose the post to classifieds link in the upper left corner. To post under the garage sale category, select for sale by owner and then garage and moving sales. This brings you to the listing page where you enter the title, location, ad body and garage sale dates.
Today, there many free online resources available to advertise your garage sale. Sites like YardSaleSearch.com, Gsalr.com and GarageSaleFinder.com—and their mobile apps—enable garage sale enthusiasts to browse sale listings and even map out a route of their favorites.
You can place free classified ads on such websites as Craigslist, eBay Classifieds, Gsalr.com, and YardSales.net. You’ll probably be able to specify the categories of items you’ll be selling, and in most cases post some photos.
You can advertise a garage sale by creating an event, a status, or by using Facebook’s marketplace.
Include the sizes of the clothes, brand names, colors, styles, etc. Tell people why they should come to your garage sale. Be truthful about the items’ condition, flaws, if it’s missing parts or doesn’t work. If you can include photos then include the interesting items that will attract buyers.
1. Follow the 10% Rule. There is an unspoken rule in the garage sale world: You never charge more than 10% of the retail price. So this means if you bought a product for $20, you shouldn’t charge more than $2 for the item at your garage sale.
Things like underwear, bathing suits, socks, and bras shouldn’t be sold at a yard sale once they’ve been used. If they’re not used, they should have the original tag or another indication that they’ve never been worn. Not only are these unsanitary, but they’re unpleasant to find at a garage sale.
Advertise your garage sale at least a week in advance, and longer if it’s part of an organized neighborhood event.
There’s a very general rule that floats around garage sale pricing circles – ‘price things at 1/3 of their buy new price’. This, of course, is a very general rule that can’t be applied to everything. Your 20-year old television may have cost $600 new but you’ll be lucky to give it away at your garage sale.
The right items bought at garage sales are often resold for an average profit of 462% each. As long as you know what to look out for, and who to sell it to, flipping garage sales (and yard sales, and flea markets!) is a clever and easy way to really line your pockets.

Get two rolls of quarters, a stack of 50 $1 bills, 10 $5 bills, and 5 $10 bills. Do it two days before the sale so that, if you forget, you can still get the change on the day before.

Yard sales are often day long ordeals, some spanning the length of a weekend. Your time is also worth something, and with few items to sell, you might find your time is worth more than the potential income you’ll earn from a weekend-long yard sale. This doesn’t mean the items have to travel with you, though.
Even though we don’t flip on eBay full time, it has become one of the most fun and profitable side hustles we’ve tried. We make $750-$3,000 a month flipping on eBay. If we had more time to devote to the hustle, I am sure we could make those earnings more consistent. It’s all about what you’re willing to put into it.

Scammers are getting pretty sneaky and are collecting personal phone numbers through Craigslist Ads. Case in point, when you’re placing an ad or responding to an ad, avoid using your personal phone number to communicate with buyers or sellers.
You can sell items on Craigslist, just like classified ads in newspapers, for free — you don’t even need a Craigslist account. Make sure the Craigslist website is set to your correct city, then click the link to create a post.
