Arid regions of Arizona, Texas and other western states dominate the list of places where the sun shines most during winter in the United States. Sunny winters also happen in Florida and Kansas. Yuma in western Arizona is the sunniest place in the United States during December, January and February.
Alaska. Many consider Alaska to be the cloudiest state in the nation, but actually, the majority of Alaska gets just as much sun as the Great Plains. The shore along the Gulf of Alaska, however, is an entirely different story. Juneau, for instance, averages just 44 days of sun per year.
According to the World Meteorological Organization, Yuma (Arizona) is the sunniest place on earth. It has a total of 11 hours of sunlight in winter and up to 13 in summer. This means Yuma experiences an average of 4,015 hours of sunshine per year.

Rain Season in Seattle
The reason for this kind of weather is that Seattle is situated near the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The largest ocean on the planet brings a huge amount of moisture over to the state of Washington, carrying it over the Olympic Mountain range.
Both cities have rain, and even though London has a reputation for raining a lot – Seattle has more. Quite a lot more in fact, beating London’s average rainfall of 23 inches by a substantial amount (Seattle has 38). … But Seattle does see far more hours of sunshine, despite having a higher rainfall.
Congratulations to Long Beach, Calif., which tops our list with 210 nice days per year. Los Angeles closely follows. Other cities near the top are some you might expect, such as San Diego, famous for its great weather, and parts of California’s Central Valley. All of the top 10 are on the West Coast.
