Coke La Rock (born 25 April 1955) is an American rapper who is often credited as the first MC in the history of hip hop. La Rock was a friend and musical partner of DJ Kool Herc. La Rock performed alongside Kool Herc for his first party to celebrate Herc’s sister Cindy’s birthday in 1973.
